Hi, I’m Zhu Xiao — founder of Impactstayhub and a firm believer in the power of sustainable business models that care for the people, planet and profit alike.

I began my career in IT process and project management, but I had always cared deeply about environmental issues. While working in IT, I participated in several environmental activities organized by NGOs, which inspired me to think about how I could use the experiences and skills I had gained to make a positive impact on the environment. After 4.5 years in IT, I made the bold decision to follow my passion. That led me to join a small but very visionary restaurant chain in Beijing as an environmental manager, where I contributed to its forward-thinking goal of building a sustainable business.

After two years’ inspiring experience in environmental management in the restaurant chain, I came to Germany and got the Master’s degree in Sustainable Resource Management at the Technical University of Munich. From 2023, I started working in sustainability management for the hotel business, my sustainability journey in hospitality moves on.

With over four years of hands-on experience in sustainable hospitality, I’ve helped hotel and restaurants turn their sustainability goals into everyday practice. From greener operations and certification processes to diversity and inclusion programs and community engagement — I’ve seen firsthand how sustainability management can transform businesses for the better.

My goal is to make sustainability management more inclusive, more innovative, and more transformative — for every hospitality business, no matter where you’re starting from.
